Tamil Nadu has more factories than any other state in India, and the ventilation problem changes every time you cross a district line. Walk into a press shop in Oragadam in April and the issue is radiant heat off the dies plus weld smoke trapped under a high roof. Drive to a tannery in Ranipet and the problem changes completely: chromium and sulphide fumes plus wet, salty process air that eat ordinary steel fans within a year. We have spent years on factory floors exactly like these, and the lesson never changes: the right ventilation is never one product, it is the right product for that exact heat, fume, dust or humidity load.
The state's climate makes it harder than the dry north. Tamil Nadu is hot AND humid, especially along the Chennai and Thoothukudi coast, so the wet-bulb temperature stays high and still air feels far worse than the thermometer reads. This is why we lead with HVLS air movement plus exhaust extraction here, and treat evaporative coolers as a limited spot-cooling tool only. In a dry Rajasthan shed a cooler drops the air several degrees; in coastal Tamil Nadu humidity it does much less, so the heavy lifting has to come from moving air across people and physically pulling heat and fumes out of the building.
The industry mix is huge and each cluster needs a different answer. SIPCOT runs more than 50 industrial parks and SEZs across 24 districts, with SIDCO and TANSIDCO estates filling in the older zones. You have the automotive belt around Chennai, Sriperumbudur and Oragadam, the Detroit of Asia, sitting next to the Foxconn and Apple-ecosystem electronics plants that make about a fifth of India's electronics output. Then Coimbatore with its 500-plus foundries, pumps and motors; Tirupur, the knitwear capital, full of dyeing and bleaching; Hosur with TVS, Ashok Leyland and Titan; Ranipet holding around 70% of India's leather tanning; Salem steel; and the emerging green-hydrogen and green-ammonia projects at Thoothukudi. Each one needs a different mix of HVLS, industrial exhaust and FRP corrosion-proof exhaust.
This page is the hub. Below we break down each major Tamil Nadu hub, why it needs ventilation, and which Aruth system fits, then link you down to the city and cluster pages for detail. We are based in Ahmedabad, but we supply and install all over India, and Tamil Nadu is one of our core states. Wherever you are, from Sriperumbudur to Tuticorin, the first step is the same: a free on-site survey, an airflow calculation and a written quote, with no obligation.

Chennai, Sriperumbudur & Oragadam
Auto, EV & electronics (the Detroit of Asia, Foxconn/Apple ecosystem)Tamil Nadu's biggest manufacturing belt, with vehicle assembly, press and paint shops at Oragadam and the Foxconn and Apple-ecosystem electronics and EMS plants around Sriperumbudur. Press and weld bays trap radiant heat and smoke under high roofs while the coastal humidity makes every shed feel hotter, so most units run 6.1 m or 7.3 m HVLS fans over the open floor together with industrial exhaust to pull paint solvent and weld fumes out.
How to choose: HVLS vs exhaust vs coolers for a Tamil Nadu factory
The short answer: HVLS fans for general comfort cooling over large open floors, exhaust fans to physically remove heat, fumes, dust or humidity, and air coolers only for limited spot-cooling at workstations. Most Tamil Nadu plants we fit end up with a combination, because the loads stack. An Oragadam paint shop, for example, needs exhaust to evacuate solvent vapour AND HVLS to keep the assembly floor comfortable.
One important point for Tamil Nadu specifically: because the state is hot and humid, especially on the coast, evaporative air coolers work far less well here than in dry north-Indian states. Wet air cannot absorb much more moisture, so a cooler that drops the temperature several degrees in Jaipur barely moves the needle in Chennai or Tuticorin. That is why we lead with HVLS air movement plus exhaust extraction across Tamil Nadu and keep coolers for limited spot use at fixed workstations. If the problem is hot, still air over a big shed, a Sriperumbudur electronics floor, an Oragadam assembly bay, a Coimbatore spinning mill, HVLS is the answer: one 7.3 m gearless fan moves a gentle 1 to 2 m/s breeze across up to about 20,000 sq.ft and feels 3 to 5 C cooler. If the problem is something you need to physically get out of the building, paint solvent in Oragadam, chrome and sulphide fumes in a Ranipet tannery, dye steam in Tirupur, furnace heat in a Salem steel bay, you need exhaust, and in corrosive tannery, dyeing, chemical or coastal air that means FRP exhaust fans that will not rust out in a year.
Why Tamil Nadu factories switch to gearless HVLS
The number that moves Tamil Nadu plant owners is the power bill. Our HVLS fans run on IE5 gearless PMSM motors, so a single 7.3 m fan covers up to about 20,000 sq.ft and replaces 15 to 20 conventional wall or pedestal fans that together draw far more power and cool far less. Across our installs that works out to up to 30% lower fan-related power consumption, with typical payback inside 18 to 30 months depending on running hours. In Tamil Nadu, where sheds run long cooling hours almost year-round because the heat barely lets up, that payback often comes faster than in seasonal northern states.
Gearless also means almost no maintenance, there is no gearbox to leak oil onto your stock or seize up in dusty foundry and textile air. Add the 2-year warranty and the maths gets straightforward. We run the actual numbers for your shed during the free survey: floor area, roof height, headcount and your current fan count and tariff, then show you the kW saved and the payback in months before you commit to anything.
Ahmedabad manufacturer, full service across Tamil Nadu
We manufacture our own fans, which is the practical advantage for a Tamil Nadu plant: factory pricing, custom sizes fabricated in-house, short lead times, spares on the shelf, and our own engineers, not a third-party dealer, handling the survey, install and after-sales. Our workshop is at GF-001 Mauryansh Elanza, Shyamal Cross Rd, Satellite, Ahmedabad 380015, and Tamil Nadu is one of our core states, so this is routine work for our team, not an out-of-area exception.
We supply and install all over Tamil Nadu, from Chennai, Sriperumbudur, Oragadam and Hosur to Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Madurai, Trichy, Ranipet and Thoothukudi, including every SIPCOT, SIDCO and TANSIDCO estate in between. The free on-site survey is genuinely free and genuinely useful: an experienced engineer on your floor, measuring your area, roof height and heat, fume, dust or humidity load, then giving you an honest layout and a written quote. Whether you are a single knitting unit in Tirupur or a multi-bay tannery in Ranipet, you deal with one team for survey, fabrication, installation and AMC.
From the field
Verified installCase study: an Oragadam auto component plant cools its weld and assembly floor
Before — the problem
An auto component supplier in the Oragadam SIPCOT belt near Chennai, feeding pressed and welded parts to one of the corridor's vehicle assembly plants, called us with a problem we see all over the Detroit of Asia belt. Their 28,000 sq.ft high-bay shed ran weld heat, radiant roof load and humid coastal summer air together, and by mid-morning the welding and sub-assembly floor was unbearable. A long row of pedestal fans just pushed hot, smoky, sticky air around at head height while drawing a steady power load all day.
What Aruth installed
We did a free on-site survey, measured a roof height of about 9 m, and mapped where the weld smoke was collecting over the fixture lines. Our recommendation was a combination: three 7.3 m HVLS fans over the open assembly floor to create a steady whole-floor breeze that actually beats the humidity at skin level, plus four industrial wall exhaust fans, sized around 40,000 CFM total, on the weld-bay wall to physically pull the heat and welding smoke out instead of letting it hang under the roof.
The result
After installation the floor ran noticeably cooler, the welding haze cleared, and because the HVLS fans use IE5 gearless PMSM motors the plant replaced roughly 18 pedestal fans with far lower running cost, with fan-related power dropping sharply. On their long Tamil Nadu running hours the owner is looking at payback inside roughly two years on fan power alone. The fans carry our 2-year warranty, and our own team handled survey, fabrication and installation end to end.
