HVLS, Exhaust & Cooling, across Chennai & Tamil Nadu
HVLS Fans, Exhaust Fans & Air Coolers for Chennai's Automobile, Electronics & Engineering Plants
We are Aruth Ventilation Systems, and we supply and install HVLS fans, exhaust fans, FRP exhaust and air coolers across Chennai's automobile, electronics and engineering belt, from Ambattur and Guindy to the Gummidipoondi SIPCOT zone. Chennai is hot and humid, a coastal city where the same plant often needs two things at once: large gearless HVLS fans to destratify and cool huge auto and electronics sheds, and exhaust fans to clear weld fumes, paint VOCs and solder smoke off the line. Our HVLS fans run IE5 gearless PMSM motors that cut fan power by up to 30%, every fan carries a 2-year warranty, and one 7.3 m fan covers up to around 20,000 sq.ft. We are an Ahmedabad manufacturer, our own engineers travel in across Tamil Nadu for a free on-site survey. Call +91 88665 44445.
Walk an auto component plant or an electronics assembly shed in Ambattur on a June afternoon and the problem is the same one we see all over Chennai: it is not just the heat, it is the humidity. The thermometer might read 36 to 38 degrees, but the coastal moisture off the Bay of Bengal makes still air feel far worse, and in a 30,000 sq.ft high-bay shed that hot, damp air sits trapped near the roof while operators on the line wilt through the back half of the shift. Two bays over, the weld line or the solder station has a different complaint, fume and smoke hanging in the breathing zone.
We have spent years on factory floors solving exactly this, and the first thing we tell Chennai plant owners is that the coastal climate changes the answer. In a dry inland city you can lean on evaporative coolers, but Chennai is humid, so adding more moisture to the air does little, sometimes it makes the floor feel stickier. That is why we lead with two things here: HVLS fans to move air across the whole floor and break up the trapped hot layer, and exhaust fans to physically pull heat, weld fume, paint VOCs and solder smoke out of the building. Coolers come in only for limited spot use in dry, non-AC bays.
This page lays out the right combination for a Chennai unit, area by area: HVLS fans for destratification and gentle whole-floor cooling over auto assembly, electronics and warehouse sheds; heavy-duty and FRP exhaust for weld fumes, paint VOCs, solder smoke and any corrosive or wet process air; and a limited place for coolers at dry workstations. We manufacture all of it and install across Ambattur, Guindy, Gummidipoondi, Sriperumbudur, Oragadam and the wider Chennai industrial belt.
Aruth Ventilation has completed 230-plus installations across India. We are honest about how we serve Chennai: we are an Ahmedabad manufacturer, so we are not a same-city workshop here. Instead our own engineers travel in for a free site survey, and we handle supply, install and after-sales ourselves rather than handing you to a local dealer. For a layout and a number that fit your shed, the free survey is the fastest first step.

Ambattur Industrial Estate
SIDCO/TANSIDCO estate: Auto components, Engineering, Light manufacturing, FabricationOne of South India's largest industrial estates, packed with auto-component units, engineering workshops, light manufacturing and fabrication shops. These tall, densely packed sheds trap hot, humid coastal air near the roof, which is the classic HVLS destratification case, gentle whole-floor airflow over the line, with weld-fume and grinding-area exhaust pulling the fume and heat out near the source.
How to choose: HVLS vs exhaust vs coolers for a Chennai factory
The short answer for Chennai: HVLS fans for whole-floor comfort over large sheds, exhaust fans to physically remove heat, fume and humidity, and coolers only for limited spot use in dry bays. Chennai is a hot AND humid coastal city, so the mix leans heavily on air movement and extraction, not evaporative cooling. Most plants we fit end up with HVLS plus exhaust, because the loads stack: an auto assembly floor needs HVLS for comfort AND exhaust to pull weld and paint fume out.
The deciding factor is what is actually in your air. If the problem is hot, still, humid air over a big shed, an Ambattur auto-component shed, an electronics assembly floor at Sriperumbudur, a logistics warehouse, HVLS is the answer: one 7.3 m gearless fan moves a gentle 1 to 2 m/s breeze across up to around 20,000 sq.ft and makes the floor feel 3 to 5 degrees cooler. If the problem is something you need to physically get out of the building, weld smoke, paint VOCs, solder fume, furnace heat in Gummidipoondi, acid or solvent vapour in a chemical unit, you need exhaust, and in corrosive or coastal air that means FRP exhaust fans that will not rust out in a year.
Why Chennai's auto and electronics plants need air movement plus extraction
Chennai is one of India's biggest automobile and electronics manufacturing hubs, the Detroit of South Asia, and that scale is what makes ventilation here a real engineering job rather than a few fans on a wall. The Ambattur, Guindy, Sriperumbudur and Oragadam belt runs vehicle assembly, auto-component machining, EMS and electronics assembly, tyre plants, defence and heavy engineering, and almost every one of those areas throws off a different mix of heat, fume and the coastal humidity that hangs over all of it.
The heat is layered, and the humidity makes it worse. Chennai summers sit around 36 to 40 degrees, and on top of ambient heat you have process heat from presses, weld robots, reflow ovens, furnaces and rolling lines. In a tall steel-roof shed that heat rises and stratifies, a hot, stale layer trapped near the roof while the floor stays poorly mixed, and the coastal moisture means that trapped air feels heavier and stickier than the thermometer suggests. Add weld smoke, paint VOCs and solder fume, and you have air that is hot, layered, humid and unhealthy to breathe all at once.
So a Chennai plant usually needs HVLS and exhaust working together, matched to the area: HVLS to destratify and gently cool the big open sheds, and exhaust to extract fume and heat at the source. Coolers stay a minor, spot-use tool because of the humidity. Get the match right and you cool the floor, clear the fumes, lift productivity through the back half of the shift, and stop wasting power on dozens of small fans that barely move the air.
HVLS fans for auto assembly, electronics and warehouse sheds
For Chennai's large auto assembly lines, electronics floors and warehouse sheds, HVLS (High-Volume, Low-Speed) fans are the right tool because they move enormous volumes of air at a gentle, low-velocity breeze and destratify the shed, mixing the trapped hot, humid layer near the roof back down and circulating the whole floor evenly. A single large HVLS fan creates a slow column of air that spreads across the floor, instead of the narrow blast you get from pedestal or wall fans that only helps the few people standing right in front.
That gentle, even airflow is what lifts productivity on an auto or electronics line. Operators working a full shift in a well-circulated environment that feels 3 to 5 degrees cooler stay sharper and quicker than those wilting under a stale, humid roof layer, and in a warehouse the same destratification keeps stored goods and the picking crew comfortable. There is no hard draught to disturb light components, paperwork or assembly work, which matters on an electronics floor.
We make five sizes, 2.4 m, 3.6 m, 4.9 m, 6.1 m and 7.3 m, drawing roughly 0.4 to 1.7 kW each on IE5 gearless PMSM motors. One 7.3 m fan covers up to around 20,000 sq.ft of open floor, so a big Ambattur or Sriperumbudur assembly or warehouse shed often needs only a handful of fans where it would otherwise run dozens of pedestal fans. Fewer fans, far less power, and a clear floor.
Weld-fume, solder, paint VOC & FRP exhaust for the process areas
For Chennai's weld lines, paint shops, solder stations, furnaces and corrosive process areas, you need correctly sized exhaust, and in fume, humidity and chemical-heavy areas, FRP (fibre-reinforced plastic) corrosion-proof exhaust rather than ordinary steel. Weld lines throw off metal fume that has to be pulled off the operator's breathing zone; paint shops give off VOC solvent vapour that is both a health and a safety concern; electronics reflow and hand-solder lines release solder smoke; and Gummidipoondi furnaces and rolling mills radiate intense heat that exhaust has to evacuate fast.
Exhaust does two jobs at once on a Chennai process floor. First, it pulls out hot air and process heat so the area stays workable in the coastal climate. Second, it clears the fume and vapour so operators are not breathing weld smoke, paint VOCs or solder fume all shift. Sizing matters: we calculate the air-change rate your process needs and position wall and roof exhaust to sweep air across the floor and extract near the source. For any unit doing leather tanning, dyeing, bleaching or chemical work, and for the chemical units in Gummidipoondi SIPCOT, FRP construction is essential, because Chennai's salt-laden coastal air plus acid or solvent vapour rusts mild steel fans within months.
Our heavy-duty and FRP exhaust fans go up to around 44,000 CFM per unit, so even a large weld line, paint shop, furnace bay or chemical hall can be covered with a manageable bank of fans. We design inlet and outlet positions so fresh air enters where people are and the hot, fume-laden air is pulled out near where it is generated.
Why Aruth, and how our free survey and India-wide install work
We are a manufacturer, not a reseller, which is the main reason Chennai plants choose us. We build our HVLS fans, industrial and FRP exhaust fans and coolers at our workshop at GF-001 Mauryansh Elanza, Shyamal Cross Rd, Satellite, Ahmedabad 380015, so our own engineers handle the survey, the install and the after-sales, and spares come from us rather than a third party. With 230-plus installations across India and a 2-year warranty on every fan, you are dealing with the people who actually made the product.
We are honest about how we serve Chennai. We are based in Ahmedabad, so this is not a same-city workshop and we are not going to pretend an Ambattur unit gets a fan in an hour. What we do offer is a free on-site survey anywhere in the Chennai belt, our team travels in across Tamil Nadu, measures your sheds, checks your heat, fume and humidity load, and gives you a layout and a quote that fit your floor. We then supply, install and service the job ourselves.
Because we manufacture in-house, lead times stay short even at distance, and corrosion-proof FRP impellers and custom exhaust banks are made to your spec rather than pulled off a generic shelf. Whether you run an auto-component shed in Ambattur, an electronics line in Sriperumbudur or a steel unit in Gummidipoondi, the free survey is the fastest way to a number you can trust.
From the field
Verified installCase study: an Ambattur auto-component plant, cooler assembly floor and cleaner weld bays
Before — the problem
An auto-component manufacturer in Ambattur Industrial Estate came to us with two problems under one roof. Their main assembly and sub-assembly shed, around 30,000 sq.ft under a tall steel roof, ran hot and sticky through the afternoon shift: with the coastal humidity, a stale, heavy layer of air sat near the roof, the floor stayed poorly mixed, and the row of pedestal fans on the line did almost nothing for the operators in the centre. Their weld and grinding bay had a different complaint, metal fume hanging in the breathing zone and heat building up around the weld stations.
What Aruth installed
We ran a free site survey. Our engineers travelled in from Ahmedabad, measured a roof height of about 9 m, and mapped where the fume was collecting. Over the assembly shed we installed four 7.3 m HVLS fans, positioned so their air columns overlapped and destratified the whole floor, mixing that trapped hot, humid roof layer back down and giving even, gentle circulation across the line. We pulled out the pedestal fans entirely, which cleared the floor and cut fan-running power sharply, since the four PMSM HVLS units together draw a fraction of what the old fan bank did.
In the weld and grinding bay we installed a bank of heavy-duty wall and roof exhaust fans, sized to around 38,000 CFM total to match the weld load and positioned to pull metal fume off the operator breathing zone and evacuate the built-up heat. The fume cleared, the bay temperature came down, and operators stopped working in a haze of weld smoke. Because Chennai is humid, we kept evaporative coolers out of the main floor and used just two portable coolers at the dry packing-and-dispatch area for peak-summer spot relief.
The result
The plant manager's two headline wins: an assembly floor that stays comfortable right through the afternoon shift, with the line holding its pace, and a weld bay where the air is finally clean to breathe. With the IE5 PMSM HVLS fans cutting fan power by up to 30% versus the old setup, the lower running cost is steadily paying back the changeover, and everything is backed by our 2-year warranty.
